Noopept is a synthetic nootropic molecule grouped in the racetam class but structurally different from racetams.
In animal research, Noopept may increase alpha waves in the brain similarly to the function of Piracetam; however, Noopept also increases beta waves and decreases delta waves. In animals, Noopept is believed to work with acetylcholine and neurotrophin in the brain, although it is not entirely understood (1).
Noopept's molecular formula is C17H22N2O4 and it has a molecular mass of 318.373 g/mol (2).
It is also known as GVS-111 and the CAS number is 157115-85-0 (2).
